Los Angeles with two kids

Five days at the end of our California trip, with a seven-year-old and a ten-year-old. Everything here survived both of them.

1. Griffith Observatory at sunset

   Free. The Hollywood Sign on one side, the city on the other.

5. Grand Central Market for lunch

   Everyone picks a different stall; everyone's happy.

   Free; you pay for parking. The gardens and the view.

7. The La Brea Tar Pits

   Bubbling asphalt in the middle of the city, mammoths included.
