Where I'd take you if you stayed with me for a long weekend. Eat early by our standards, late by yours.

1. Pastel de nata at Manteigaria, warm

   Wait for the bell. Cinnamon yes, sugar no.

2. Ride tram 28 from Martim Moniz — early

   Before nine, or it's a queue with a tram at the end of it.

3. Grilled sardines at a June street party

   Santo António, 12–13 June. Bread under the fish, always.

5. Fado in a tasca, not a show

   If there's a cover charge and a menu in six languages, keep walking.
