What Snufkins is
A travel journal and a small social network, run by one person (see Legal & safety), free of charge. It may change, pause, or shut down; if it shuts down you'll get at least 30 days' notice and a way to export your data.
Your account
- One account per person. Accounts that behave like machines — bulk following, automated posting, scraping — are removed.
- You're responsible for what's posted from your account and for keeping your password to yourself.
- You must be at least 16 to use Snufkins.
Names
You don't have to use your real name. A made-up name and handle — the trail names we suggest, or your own — are welcome, and nobody here is told who you are. What isn't allowed is pretending to be a particular someone else: a real person, a business, or another member.
Your content
It stays yours. By posting you give Snufkins the licence it needs to show your content to the people you chose, and nothing more — no resale, no use in advertising, no training of models. Delete a post and it's gone; delete your account and everything goes with it. You can download everything you've put here at any time.
Your data
Your data belongs to you and is never sold. If Snufkins shows ads, they are chosen by the page they appear on — a place, a list — never by who you are or what you've done here, and they are always marked as ads. More in Privacy.
What's not allowed
- Anything illegal where you are or in the European Union — including sexual content involving a child, which we report to the authorities.
- Posting other people's private information, or photos of people who wouldn't want them public.
- Harassment, threats, hate, or impersonating a particular person or business.
- Spam, undisclosed advertising, or automated accounts.
How moderation works
- Anyone can report something — members with ⋯ → Report, anyone at all through report illegal content. A person reads every report; threats to someone's life or safety first. Whoever sent it hears what we decided; we never say who reported whom.
- We decide by hand: nothing is removed or suspended automatically. The only automatic limits are on how fast an account can post, comment or sign up.
- We may remove content that breaks these terms or the law, and suspend accounts that do it seriously or repeatedly. When we do, you get a statement of reasons — what, why, which rule or law, and the facts — with a link to appeal. A person who can reverse the decision reads every appeal. You can also take any decision to a court.
- If we learn of something that suggests a threat to someone's life or safety, we tell the police or the relevant authority.
No warranty
Snufkins is provided as is. We do our best to keep it up and keep your data safe (see Privacy), but we can't promise it will always work or never lose anything — keep copies of photos you care about.
Changes
If these terms change in a way that matters, you'll be told in the app before it takes effect.
